Developmental disability and deafblindness workshops

  • people with both deafness and blindness,
  • people with at least one sensory disability,
  • people with complex disabilities

You may find this workshop useful if you are:

  • family
  • working in therapy
  • working in education
  • another service provider e.g. Deaf, support work, residential care

These workshops are free to attend. Funding comes from the Information, Advice and Referrals program of the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing.

We include:

  • how to recognise deafblindness
  • understanding access needs
  • where to find help to support the person’s senses
  • hand-under-hand teaching methods
  • creating shared experiences
  • developing shared meaning
  • learning and practicing deafblind communication methods
  • resources and tools to support your learning.

You can ask questions and bring case studies.

Guest presenters, born deafblind, will also share their experiences.
