Chris
Chris from Coburg, Victoria sent us a letter to say:
Just to say thank you very much for the lovely holiday at the deafblind camp. I have all the wonder people helping me with communication. But I don’t sign but I can read lip sometime but not always. Sometime they have to repeat it maybe 4 times till I get it right but they were very patient also I got a white board so people can write on it and it can be rub off with black pen. But I have Fiona and Bill Hynes looking after me to make sure that I have a good time which I did because of you Karen. You make sure I get all the help I need.
My conversation and my speech were not very good. But most people do understand me. Some of interpreters want to help me more than other deafblind people maybe because I was popular. All easy to communicate to me who know there was 2 young girls who help me and follow me all the time. I don’t know why maybe I was fun for them.
Anyway Karen next time I go to Perth for Deafblind Holiday. I hope it can be a bit longer maybe one week would be good. I will be asking Fiona if we can have another holiday at the Deafblind Camp at Ern Halliday Recreation Camp in the near future I hope so Flinder Cross.
Karen – I don’t think you know who I am. I was the man who got talent. I was doing a joke story. I was the man with the white mo on my chin so you might know who I am? Just tell you about me Karen I am Deaf in both ears and blind in the left eye but I can see in the right eye with glasses. I am 61 years old.
Karen I hope I can see you and the people who work with the deafblind one day in the near future.
Kind Regards
Chris
